Nottingham Animal Coalition

Nottingham Animal Coalition is a new animal advocacy group aiming to bring together the various animal rights groups in Nottingham.

Join this gathering at the Sumac Centre , to shape the future of the coalition for campaigners and animal advocates, to get active for animals, discover existing campaigns, or start your own!

If you have an unfulfilled interest in animal rights you are welcome to attend the meeting, even if not (yet) associated with a specific group.

Fundraiser for Big Ride for Palestine

Join us on FRIDAY 24th July at the Sumac Centre for an evening of music, poetry, vegan food and community spirit.

Featuring poets: Amer Yaks, Emma Sullivan, Panya Bojoko and Zohra

Featuring musicians: Jacob Holmes, Campfie Goblins, Eleanor Gail, and Dave Fairey

This People’s Kitchen meal for the Big Ride for Palestine supports the Nottingham to Sheffield Bike Ride for Palestine leaving  on the next day.

Raising funds for

There will be music and poetry, vegan food, raffle and the Forest Fields Social Club Bar.

During Forest Fields Social Club events under 18s must be accompanied by an adult who remains responsible for them whilst on Sumac premises.

Everyone is welcome to this fundraiser for Big Ride For Palestine and Refugee Forum.

£5 for entry  . £5 for food . Plus raffle.

NOTE event moved due to the unprecedented scale and depth of the work in processing Sumac’s Rainbow archives. Now scheduled as part of the Sumac Centre’s 25th Anniversary Festival.

Sumac Centre Library covers a range of topics from anarchism, animal rights, political and social theory, race, gender and class, environment and ecology, activism, to journalism and history and more.

The Sparrows Nest have adopted our huge wealth of pre-digital campaign resources from the 1980s & 90s. They will be storing our archives safely. Once catalogued many items will publically available and all will be maintained in perpetuity.

Sparrows Nest Fundraiser for Sumac / Rainbow Archive

The Sumac Centre has its own small library, which people are free to browse when the Centre is open.

The library covers a range of topics from anarchism, animal rights, political and social theory, race, gender and class, environment and ecology, activism, to journalism and history and more.

We also welcome offers of help in helping to keep the Library (& book stall) organised.

Sumac also hosts the Veggies Book Stall, available whenever the Centre is open. Their are books and journals for reference and for sale covering green, human rights, animal issues, anti-war, co-operation and social justice. Some are available via Veggies online store.

We have started a catalogue of books in the library and another of journals and other archives.

We are working with the Sparrows Nest Library. They are adopting our huge wealth of pre-digital campaign resources from the 1980s & 90s. They hope to make our archives publically available, or at least catalogued.

Total Liberation Gathering 2026

We are pleased to announce that we are hosting the second Total Liberation Gathering  on 26th-28th June at the Sumac Centre in Nottingham.

Total Liberation Gathering Shedule

The event is coordinated by the Total Liberation Collective  (info on Instagram).

The aim is for animal liberationists to connect with other struggles and strengthen solidarity between movements. We want to encourage collaboration, sharing resources and creativity.

This will be an opportunity for us to reimagine how the world could be. We will embody anti-hierarchy, active participation and collective care.

Our shared vision is to be as inclusive as possible, with anti racism, anti ableism and anti-speciesism at the heart of the project.
