We are running a daily Community Food Hub whilst most events at Sumac are on hold.
Community Food Hub
Sunday July 18th @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Drop-In Every Wednesday & Sunday 11am – 2pm . Collection or delivery every day by arrangement.
We have converted the Sumac Centre into a hub for the distribution of foods around our community, for those isolated at home or those that wish to distance themselves from the madness of Tesco & Asda.
Goods can be ordered from the stock list and order form by email to email@example.com, for collection from Sumac Centre or delivery to about one mile radius. There is a drop-in facility between 11am & 3pm on Sundays and Wednesdays.
You are encouraged to collect for isolated, at-risk, frail or elderly friends and neighbours too.
Many items come from bulk supplies, weighed to order. Cleaning materials & liquid foods may be dispensed in reusable containers.
We are baking wholemeal, sour dough and gluten free bread, and have flour and yeast available for home baking.
We have a system for the safe handling of cash, with a separate supply of clean coins for change. We’re working on payment by bank transfer, paypal or card too.
We aim to stock ethically sourced, wholefood, fair-trade & organic products which, due to the broken food system, may be more expensive than cheap supermarket foods. However we can match supermarket prices and can defer payment for those that have no income. We invite donations to a fund to cover this.
We also are redistributing donated foods, and foods from businesses that have had to close. If you have surplus foods to share, please contact us.
Everything that we stock is vegan and therefore suitable for most dietary, cultural & religious preferences. Gluten free items are also available.
Sumac exists to provides resources and a meeting space for groups and individuals working to promote social justice, environmental awareness, peace, and animal rights.
You can donate here to support us, towards running costs, maintenance, heating bills etc.
